The universe works in amazing ways. ..
“Grace” can be defined as unmerited divine assistance. In the story of baby Grace, there was most definitely divine intervention for her and her beautiful family.
I have known Grace’s amazing mama since high school. Our paths crossed again when Michelle was expecting her second child. She already had sweet little Eva at home. Michelle explained to me that at a routine ultrasound, it was revealed that her baby had Left Hypoplastic Heart Syndrome. This is a congenital heart defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart. At that point, Michelle and her husband Mike had no idea what they would face upon their baby’s birth, but they did realize that they had a long road ahead. On February 3, 2018, (which also happens to be my own birthday) Grace entered the world. In her first week of life she faced open-heart surgery like a warrior! Today, baby Grace is doing incredibly well and thriving. If that isn’t divine assistance then I don’t know what is!
During my newborn photography session with Grace, I snapped some traditional poses, but I also wanted to capture her “battle wound” and the special bracelet that was specifically made to help support the family as they faced overwhelming medical bills. I snuck in a few shots of her in her beautiful baptism gown, which has a sentimental meaning to Mike and Michelle.
Grace was the picture of perfection through her entire session.
The details of everyone’s story helps me create a story in pictures for the family to always remember and tell their children about someday. I do this job for many reasons, but the main reason is to hold a moment in time for all the families I meet. How fortunate and happy I am to do this for families.
